A friend of mine went crazy with drugs yesterday and had a car chase and died when police shot him.  He had knocked over a Seven Eleven.  He wasn’t a close friend, I mostly knew him because he owned a store and I was going to make a sculpture out of a wooden post that was in the lawn in front of the building.  It was going to be a 4-foot tall, concrete, Tim Burton-esque cathedral with stained glass windows, a clock, and a steeple.  I was actually heading over there either later today or tomorrow, to let him know I had to wait until it got a bit warmer so the concrete would set correctly or whatever.  Then I read about it in the news.  I was kind of shocked, but it’s only now really setting in.  You know, going back through thoughts of conversations we had and random smiles and pleasant tone of voice, then trying to picture that same guy with a rifle getting shot down by police on the road.  World is such a fucked up place, then you have these other people trying to pretend it isn’t, censoring the creative output of artists for…what?  What reason?  Do they want some kind of suspension of disbelief where people don’t say and do the bad things portrayed in film, literature, comics, music, etc.  “It’s for the children.”?  God knows the reasons people do and say horrible things have never changed:  drugs, extremism, madness, horrible pasts and childhoods, terrible family-lives and terrible parents, fucked up governments, wars, drugs, parents, drugs, parents.  But no, let’s make sure we put an “Adults Only” rating on that video game or an “X” rating on that movie.  You know, to protect the children.

Funny thing is I wasn’t going to show the guy this website, cause he was religious and I didn’t want to offend him.  Ha.

I think I’ve got the Webcomicsnation.com site figured out.  My distant cousin, Isabald Monteclaire, who knows a thing or two about this stuff (and he’s also rich as a motherfucker) helped me out.  I put a logo for Applecorecomics.com on there, and it’s so awesome I want to incorporate it into the actual site.  I also want to make the link to Webcomics Nation accessible from the main site.  But I digress.  Here’s the logo:

This is my dog Molly:

She woke me up scratching at my door.  Usually she does this and I take her out to pee, but lately she pees on the rug first and then bothers me to take her out.  No big deal, not worth mentioning except for the fact that her urine spots have gotten…peculiar lately.  I’ll just cut to the chase;  this morning she had pissed the words “HELP ME” into the rug.  Some exorcist-type stuff.  I don’t know, is it me?

PS: I think I fixed the Internet Explorer problem.  Now to fix the Webcomics Nation problem.

My search for a decent wi-fi accessible spot continues… While traveling down a well-trodden path with tall, hundred-year old trees lining my right and a mighty rushing river to my left, a wagon pulled by and a sad, dusty old horse came creaking towards me.  Hand on my sword hilt (you can never be too careful) I offered a lift of my helmet face-plate-thingy (that’s what knights used to do to show they were not enemies, which through the years turned into the salute.  See it’s a similar motion.  Wilson from “Home Improvement” is a pretty smart guy).  The wagon slowed and I saw the driver clearly.  He was a short, wrinkly dude with a funny-looking hat.

“Howdy, stranger,” he said.  “The name’s Bosch.  Hieronymus is ma’ first name but you can call me Ronny.  You interested in buying some art?”  I, being a fan of the arts, was all like “What’ve you got?”  He took me around to the back of the wagon where my senses were assaulted by a gigantic triptych of the most horrendous, Godless images I’ve ever seen (and I fought in the crusades). The massive landscape was peppered with tiny little people.  On the left it was kind of boring, Adam and Eve or some bullshit like that.  The middle and the right?  Jesus Christ, people were having sex and freaky little creatures were anally penetrating some folks while others had bats flying right out of their asses!

I was like “Holy shit!  Why aren’t you being burned for heresy right now?”  He was like “Are you kidding?  I do this shit all the time for churches.  The priests are like ‘Holy fuck!  That’s some creative motherfucking shit!”

I asked if he had free wi-fi and he said no.  So I went on my way and eventually just stole some off a guy with an unsecured network.      I updated the comic again today, this is where it starts getting good.  The about and preview section of the Gold and Blue and Gray page will have cool stuff in them next week.  Let’s say the preview page by Tuesday, and the about page by Friday. And of course by the end of today the Webcomics Nation page will be updated.

Whew.  What a day.  I’ve been working tirelessly to get stuff ready for that Webcomics Nation site.  But my internet access is severely severed so I’ve been searching the plains of yore for some free fucking wi-fi.  I finally ended in the local…book tavern.  You know, where you can borrow books as long as you have your library…scroll.  I met a dude there.  Said his name was Richard.  He looked intelligent, but not too snobby, so naturally I inquired as to what he was reading.  He responded “Oh, this is one of those medieval romance novels.”  Well, taking the opportunity to show off, I was like “Oh yeah?  I know a little about that.  Go ahead, quiz me!”  He laughed and was like “All right, who was the knight who betrayed King Arthur?”  I screamed “That was just a fucking story, it never really happened!”  and I stabbed him in his thigh (that was as high as I could reach;  my  hands were full with my laptop, shield, and Vente Two-Pump Vanilla, Non-fat, Extra hot Latte).   Long story short, I’ll have the Webcomics Nation site running by the end of Friday.

I couldn’t wait, though, so I’ve gone and updated Gold and Blue and Gray a day early.  Just click on the “Latest Comic” link on the page for the comic, and scroll down.  I’m not sure if I should have the link go directly to the new comic panel, or have it start at the top and you scroll down.  Suggestions?

PS:  My VCR wouldn’t play the UPexx VHS tapes, so I’m constructing my own.

Quick side note: if you’re using Internet Explorer, the most important page on the main site (The Applecore) doesn’t work.  I have no idea why, I’ll fix it this weekend hopefully.  Might I suggest using Firefox or Google Chrome, because Internet Explorer is what we knights would call “Not very chivalrous,” or in other words it blows.

I’m looking for ways to get an audience to the site, because updating regularly is meaningless if nobody’s looking.  I found a nifty site last night called Webcomics Nation.  Free site for posting comics and commenting on others’.  Also, I realize the way comics are displayed on the Applecore is archaic, but I’m not a genius coder.  (I mean for God’s sake, technically I should consider all this computer technology witchcraft, I am from the 1100’s).  Point being on Webcomicsnation.com I can post all the same stuff, but it’s presented in a nice, sleek, functional way.  Personally I prefer my way, but I am what the Roman Catholic church would call a “heretic.”  So take that with a grain of salt.

The link to this so-called website is in the links section on the right.  Nothing there at the moment, but it will be updated with Applecorecomics.com on Fridays (my site will most likely be updated on Tuesdays as well, and interesting quips from me every day on this blog, so really you have no excuse but to come back every single fucking day).

After I get some traffic on this site, I’ll probably get an email here or there (contact info in the menu on the right).  Anybody’s comments are welcome.  I’ll post them in a latest comments section on the main site, you know, when I get some.  Keep an eye out for yours!  And again, I encourage feedback so go ahead and talk my ear off (I only have one, Jesus couldn’t reattach the other after Peter cut it off, goddamnit).
